ARTISTIC CONCEPT

I approach tattooing as a form of visual reflection. A meeting point between the client’s personal story and my own artistic language. My work explores emotion, symbolism and contrast through a spectrum of tonal depth, moving from the quietest shadows to moments of intense luminosity. I am drawn to the space between realism and abstraction, where form can remain recognisable while still carrying something more instinctive and open to interpretation.

For me, a tattoo is not simply an image placed on the body. It is the transformation of an idea, feeling or memory into a visual presence. Something that evolves with the person who carries it. Through controlled tonal transitions, negative space, texture and contrast, I try to create works that hold both precision and atmosphere, allowing light and darkness to exist within the same composition.

Each piece becomes a kind of reflection: of the person, their experience, and the meaning they choose to give it. My intention is not only to create a tattoo that is visually striking, but one that continues to reveal different layers over time.

THE PRACTICE

I began tattooing from a fascination with the uncertainty of how art is received and how the same image can touch different people in completely different ways, carrying meanings that the artist could never have predicted. I became interested in the possibility that an artwork could continue its journey beyond the place where it was created. For me, the tattoo became a particularly powerful form of this idea. When art becomes part of someone’s skin, it is no longer confined to a studio, gallery or exhibition. It travels with the person who carries it through different places, encounters and moments in life. A meaningful tattoo can quietly enter the lives of people who may never have visited an exhibition or encountered the artist directly. This mobility gives tattooing a unique artistic potential: the artwork continues to exist, move and communicate through another human being. I find something deeply meaningful in that uncertainty that never knowing who might see it, what they might feel, or how it might inspire someone along the way. This belief is also connected to my wider practice in charcoal, graphite and contemporary art, where I explore consciousness, spirituality, perception and the reflective relationship between ourselves and the world around us. Tattooing allows these questions to leave the page and become part of lived experience.
